Carpet cleaner solution found in Italian town, police say
An Italian town has been warned that it may be contaminated with dangerous chemicals linked to the pet trade, according to local authorities.
A city of Cagliari, Italy, reported that residents had been exposed to toxic fumes, and the local health ministry said it was investigating whether the chemicals were from the cleaners.
Authorities have asked pet owners in Caglia to stop pet walking and to keep their dogs indoors until the investigation is completed.
Italy has a pet-friendly law, but it is not fully enforced.
In 2015, it was reported that the country’s national police agency had been investigating the sale of pet toys.
